#mixingtips #homerecording #mixdownonline Mixing live drums is always fun, but can be challenging. Bleed is often a big problem. Getting stuck with a bunch of kick, cymbals and hi-hats bleeding on a Snare recording is not uncommon. Using a Gate to control the bleed is often a good solution, but sometimes, even a Gate will not do a great job and will be hard to work with. Here's an amazing Drum Mixing Trick that I started to use not too long ago. It is now my "Go to" technique when it comes to remove bleed out of a snare, kick, tom or floor tom. This technique comes from Manny Nieto, a well-known L.A. producer, engineer, and mixer but I learned this one from Warren Huart 🤍 The good news about this trick is that you only need a Compressor and the one that comes with any DAW with will just fine. In this video I will explain and demonstrate this cool mixing trick and even show you something extra you can do to bring this technique to the next level. ►► Get access to the MIXDOWN ZONE for FREE and get your FREE MIX CUBASE TEMPLATE and MULTITRACKS 🤍 GET IN TOUCH WITH ME ►► Get FULL CONTROL over CUBASE with THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO CUBASE 🤍 Instagram: 🤍 Facebook: 🤍 Twitter: 🤍 Website: 🤍 ►►Distrokid: Get Your Music On Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal (Get 7% OFF on your first year) →🤍 Some of the gear and plugins I use in the studio: ►►WAVES PLUGINS Save 10% with the following link: 🤍 ►►ACCUSONUS ERA-BUNDLE website 🤍 ►►THAT SOUND DRUM SAMPLES Save 10% with the following link: 🤍 DAW CONTROLLER: 🤍 CAMERA 🤍 MICROPHONE 🤍 CAMERA MIC 🤍 LAVALIER MIC 🤍 POP FILTER 🤍 STUDIO MONITORS 🤍 HEADPHONES 🤍 STEINBERG LICENCE KEY 🤍 CUBASE 10.5 🤍 STUDIO MONITOR CONTROLLER 🤍 STUDIO LIGHTS 🤍

➡️➡️Learn more about Drum EQ Basics here: 🤍 ➡️➡️Download the multitracks here: 🤍 In today's video we will be going over Drum EQ Basics! We also have the multitracks for you to download, so you can follow along and mix them yourself! EQ is one of the most powerful things you can do to make a drum kit jump out of the mix. Today, we will using a very simple drum recording: there are two kick drum mics, two snare mics, a hi-hat, rack, floor tom mic, overheads, and a stereo room. I will be showing you how to get really quick, simple results from nearly any type of drum recording. First, we will be working on the inside of the kick drum. This one is a little bit clicky as it is picking up some of that snappiness of the beater hitting the head. Let’s apply a stock EQ plugin to get us started. Most of you know the principle of finding ugly areas and getting rid of them. To do that I am going to make the Q narrow and give it a boost, and once I find that ugly area, I will widen the Q. With that wide Q, I am going to do the opposite and cut that, which gets rid of some of that unwanted excessive bleed that you hear, as well as getting rid of that ugly mid range. Now, I am going to cut and widen it a bit more, and this cut exaggerates the clickiness more and that low thump below. Even on a kick drum, high-passing is not a bad thing, so I am going to make the slope a little bit more aggressive here. With EQ, we often do compression, reverbs, delays, and more, but many of you have asked me to keep it simple! Watch the video below to learn more about drum EQ basics and see the changes I made to get this cleaner sound! ❤️My Favorite Plugins: ➡️Leapwing Audio: 🤍 ➡️Waves MV2: 🤍 ➡️Waves RBass: 🤍 ➡️Renaissance Vox: 🤍 ➡️Renaissance Compressor: 🤍 ❤️GEAR: ➡️Stealth Sonics: 🤍 ➡️UK Sound 1173: 🤍 ➡️$299 Kali Audio Studio Monitors: 🤍 ➡️Apollo x16: 🤍 ➡️Apollo Twin: 🤍 ❤️❤️Free 3 Part Mixing Course: 🤍 Sign up here to get exclusive videos and content 🤍 #ProduceLikeAPro #HomeRecording #MixingDrums Giveaway Winners: 🤍 Produce Like A Pro is a website which features great tips to help the beginning recordist make incredible sounding home recordings on a budget.

Noting the style of producer 'El Guincho', Joshua demonstrates how the record can be enhanced for the pop market whilst retaining its cultural aesthetic.
