Even if you decrease the brightness, white backgrounds will be hard on your eyes. This is why Dark Mode is not only about aesthetics — it’s an important tool to maintain eye health. MacOS includes a Dark Mode option that works across the entire system, from the dock and menu bar to all of your apps. Using a Mac at night is easier on the eyes if you turn on Dark Mode in macOS. Here's how to turn on the Mac Dark Mode, and how to get Dark Mode on a Mac if you haven't updated to Catalina or Big Sur yet Some devices have a special 'Dark Mode' which is designed to kick in during the evening hours. For example, Apple created a Dark Mode for its Apple TV, while iPadOS and iOS 13 brought a Dark Mode to iPhone and iPad.
